About Long Beach Island
Long Beach Island, commonly referred to by locals as LBI, is the gem of the New Jersey Coast. Located along the Atlantic Ocean coast of Ocean County, NJ, LBI is 25 miles north of Atlantic City, 55 miles east-southeast of Philadelphia and 75 miles south of New York City. Just 18 miles in length and about a half-mile wide at its widest point in Ship Bottom and a fifth of a mile at its narrowest point in Harvey Cedars, with sandy white beaches that go for miles, lots of water activities, cute seaside shops and restaurants LBI is the perfect destination for all.
LBI is divided into two main sections: the northern quiet side and the southern active side. The northern side is generally higher-end, low density residential; whereas the southern portion possesses more higher-density housing and commercial development. On the north side of LBI you will find Barnegat Light, Loveladies, Harvey Cedars, North Beach and Surf City. The southern tip of the island hosts Ship Bottom, Brant Beach, Peahala Park, Long Beach Township, Beach Haven and Holgate (also referred to as Beach Haven Inlet). Wherever you stay on LBI you will have a great visit!

Sweet Treats
A trip to LBI would not be complete without a taste of the essential beach treats: fudge, salt water taffy and of course some ice cream. Lucielles Candies (4105 Long Beach Blvd; 609-494-3700) makes a variety of candies but fudge is their specialty. Each production day they make 900 pounds of fudge by hand. Another great option is Country Kettle Fudge (9th & Bay Ave., Beach Haven; 609-492-2800; http://www.countrykettlefudge.com/)
If the weather is getting to you swing by Show Place Ice Cream Parlor (202 Centre Street Beach Haven; 609-492-0018) where they sing, dance and serve ice cream or try Meltdown (133rd and Long Beach Boulevard, Beach Haven Terrace, 609-207-0527) or Skipper Dipper (9305 Long Beach Blvd., Peahala Park; 609-492-9680; http://www.skipperdipper.com/
). If you are in the mood for ice cream, there is a huge selection and you will find a place every couple of blocks.
